It’s an unpopular topic in the wine world, and yet all wineries are required to maintain it. Much of it’s unpopularity comes from a combination of a lack of three things: understanding, organization and systems. Wine Compliance Alliance is focused on addressing those areas through services ranging from compliance maintenance packages, application assistance and two types of training services.

25+ years of experience

With over 25 years of experience, 16 of those working in the cellar at several Napa Valley wineries, plus over 10 years of instructing winery compliance courses, our office brings a practical and real world understanding in helping wineries effectively manage their compliance.

We offer four areas of service:

Compliance Maintenance Package:

All wineries have a specific set of files that they are required to maintain which spans from their winery ownership details to their range of winemaking activities. However, each winery individually has its own unique way that these files are created and maintained. Wine Compliance Alliance works with our Compliance Maintenance Package clients to create their own specific blue print which is designed to fit their business’ unique set of activities. The purpose of the Compliance Maintenance Package is to streamline and effectively manage your compliance for you.

Original and Amendment Application Filings:

Are you looking to start a new wine business, or are an existing one that needs to make some changes?

We offer services to assist with the following types of applications:

  • TTB basic permit – new winery
  • TTB basic permit – Alternating Proprietor
  • TTB basic permit – Wine Wholesaler
  • CA ABC type 02 license
  • CA ABC type 17 & 20 licenses
  • CDFA – Weighmaster or Processors license
  • Napa County Home Occupation permit – County or City of Napa

Compliance Training

Wineries are often looking for instruction on their records, report filings and compliance processes.
With 16 years of hands on experience working in the cellars of Napa Valley wineries we are able to bring a day to day understanding of the activities happening at wineries and how to provide their staff the guidance to document and report them correctly, thus removing the confusion so they can keep their focus on making and selling wine.

Here are some of the common items that training is provided for:

  • TTB 5120.17 report
  • TTB Excise tax report
  • TTB label approval
  • Common records such as bills of lading and weigh tags
  • Wine label design
  • Trade name addition
